DAY 1: IIYAMA ARRIVAL

Today's morning you will embark on JR Shinkansen to reach Iiyama. Located in the far north of Nagano Prefecture, Iiyama can be reached from Tokyo with around 1 hour 40 min by direct Shinkansen. Usually referred to as Japan&;s eternal hometown, Iiyama is definitely an off-the-beaten-path destination for those who enjoy it.

Upon arrival, you will join an orientation at the Tourism Information Center to get a brief introduction to the history, culture, and attractions of Iiyama. Afterward, stroll around Shinshu Iiyama and enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere of the old town with the beautiful greenery and streets lined with temples. End of the day, you will return to the local ryokan for an overnight stay.

DAY 2: IIYAMA

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before participate in a local activity: vegetable picking at Minsyuku. Immerse in the life of the local farmers and get yourself hungry for the next activity: bamboo leaves sushi-making experience. Savor your self-made lunch and later on join the trekking at the forest of Iiyama. The natural world now just steps away, which offers you chances to see plants and local animals up close. Whether you are looking for an easy walk or challenging hiking, there is a trail for everyone! Return to your stay-in hotel at the end of the day.
