DAY 1: MOUNT FUJI TOUR
This seat in coach 1-day tour takes you to majestic Mt. Fuji and Hakone. It includes a trip up to Mt. Fuji's 5th station at an elevation of 2,300meters, a cruise on pristine Lake Ashi, and a ride on the Komagatake Ropeway which boasts great views of the surrounding Hakone National Park. As temperature drops significantly on Mt. Fuji, please bring coats or other warm clothes from fall to spring. On the first day of your journey, visit Mount Fuji - the beautiful cone-shaped dormant volcano that has become a symbol of Japan all around the world in the paintings of Hokusai. We visit the 2,500 meter high "5th station," then admire the mountain on a cruise from the nearby Lake Ashi. We'll take a ropeway ride to see more of the Hakone National Park - lively and dramatic sights unique to the nature of this country.
DAY 2: HAKONE FREE
You have the next day free in Hakone - a checkpoint on this historical "Tokaido" highway stretching from Kyoto to Edo. This checkpoint was famous for its hot springs and geisha - much of the traditional town persists to this day, so get a taste of the old life simply by walking out of your hotel room and strolling down to the nearby izakaya! The Hakone townsfolk are friendly - take their recommendations when asking what of the many o-tsu-mami to try when accompanying your sake.DAY 3: TRAIN TO KYOTO
On the third day, you get to make your own way down to Kyoto by shikansen bullet train. Eat "eki-ben" lunch boxes unique to the station of departure, like the Japanese do! Don't forget to look out the right-hand side of your window - Mount Fuji will be visible for miles, and if you happen to ride in good weather, the mountain is said to bring you good look for the entire remainder of your journey!
