We are excited to share this news! This is the fresh (but not full) announcement of opening up borders, we have listed out the key updates for you to keep track:
 
  • Effective from June 10, Nationals from more than 90 “blue list” countries will be allowed to enter Japan. The blue list named countries where the risk of catching the coronavirus is considered low. Please be advised that the list is subject to change, and that a country needs to be on the list on the date when the application for travel to Japan is submitted (NOT the actual date of travel).   • All travelers will need to apply for a visa in order to enter Japan.
 
  • Travelers must visit Japan on a guided tour accompanied by a Japanese Tour Leader.
 
  • Visitors from 'blue list' countries: A negative result from a PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure is required to enter Japan; however, there will be no test and no quarantine upon arrival in Japan for foreign tourists regardless of vaccination status. It is estimated that 80 percent of visitors will not need to quarantine upon arrival
 
  • The daily border-entry cap is currently 20,000 people.
